Country Side – I
I sometimes accompany my sister on her weekly village visits. She visits a village near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, South India. Coconut grooves, vegetable farms and corn fields fill the country side here. With rain showers scattered throughout the year, these villages always wear a lush green look.
While towns are preferred destinations for textile mills; small scale manufacturing industries ranging from electronics, machinery, copra, paper etc are a common site in the countryside, rubbing shoulders with coconut grooves. Education is fast spreading in rural areas. Migration to cities is lesser here than in other parts of the state, partly due to fertile lands and partly due to export options for manufctured goods.
Here are a few shots of the village children. Their smile is infectious, smile and enjoy them

Boys with their best smiles

Girls and shy smiles

I too can smile

Parting shot, cheerful good byes
